The pop diva celebrates her forty-year musical career with a single stop in Spain: on November 1 at the Palau Sant Jordi
She hadn’t performed in Spain since 2015, so Madonna fans are in luck. The artist announced on Tuesday that a new tour is coming, with which she will celebrate her forty-year musical career – it is not called The Celebration Tour for nothing – and which will travel through Spain. It will of course be a single date: November 1, 2023, at the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona. He must like the location, because his only show in Spain eight years ago, on the occasion of his Rebel Heart Tour, was also on the same stage.
The members of his fan club can buy the tickets today, which will go on pre-sale tomorrow on Livenation.es, and will be available on Friday, January 20 from 10 a.m. on both points of official sale Livenation.es and Ticketmaster.es . The price of tickets will vary from 45.50 euros in the cheapest areas to 340 euros in the first category grandstands. In the case of the circuit, there are two prizes: the prize furthest from the podium costs 226.50 euros, the closest one costs 283.50 euros. There are also VIP experience packages that go up to 1,200 euros, in the case of the most luxurious, and include an exclusive tour of the backstage, a group photo on stage, a welcome cocktail before the show or a limited edition lithograph.
The ‘Like a Prayer’ singer announced the tour with a video inspired by ‘Truth or Dare’, the black and white documentary called ‘In bed with Madonna’ (1991) in Spain, which followed the artist in one of his most controversial tours, that of the album ‘Erotica’ and where he revealed his carnal passion for Antonio Banderas. Accompanied by friends like Diplo, Amy Schumer, Lil Wayne, Bob The Drag Queen, Kate Berlant, Larry Owens, Meg Stalter, Eric Andre or Judd Apatow, the artist again plays truth or dare around a table, giving herself a passionate tongue kiss with Jack Black and imitate one of the hot pictures from the book ‘Sex’. Towards the end, actress and comedian Schumer offers him one last challenge: “Go on a world tour playing your best fucking songs.” To which Madonna replies: «Four decades, forty years, with all those songs like ‘Like a Virgin’, ‘La Isla Bonita’… It’s a lot of songs. Do you think people will come? The answer is fuck yes.”
The world tour will visit 35 cities, kicking off July 15 in North America at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada, before traveling to Europe, where it will tour 11 cities in the fall, stopping in Barcelona. Thus, The Celebration Tour covers Madonna’s artistic journey over four decades as she pays homage to New York City, the place where she began her career. “I’m excited to explore as many songs as possible in hopes of giving my fans the show they’ve been waiting for,” the singer stressed.
Madonna will be joined as support act by Bob the Drag Queen, winner of the eighth edition of the popular American television show ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’.
