Emerging musician Emin Kurkchyan will perform as a soloist with the Murcia Symphony Orchestra at the Víctor Villegas Auditorium
At the age of 17, Cordoban pianist Emin Kurkchyan already shared the stage as a soloist with groups such as the Córdoba Orchestra, the Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hamburg New Philharmonie or the Vladicaucaso Philharmonic Orchestra. A list where you can add the Murcia Symphony Orchestra from this Sunday at noon after going through the Víctor Villegas Auditorium. However, it is not the first time that the musician has performed in Murcia. “I was with the Murcia Region Youth Orchestra in 2019 and it was a very nice concert, I still remember it,” he admits from Madrid, where he lives after winning a scholarship from the Albéniz Foundation to the Banco Santander Foundation Piano Chair of the Reina Sofía School of Music with Professor Milana Chernyavska.
The first time this pianist, winner of several competitions such as the Albacete National Competition for Young Pianists (2021) and the Intercentros Melómano Competition (2021), heard the keys of his favorite instrument, it was at home of his mother Larisa Tedtoeva. professional music. «I started when I was six years old, but since I was little, my parents taught me classical music. Pretty much everything I know is thanks to them.”
When he finally chose the piano, he enrolled at the ‘Músico Zyriab’ Professional Conservatory in Córdoba with professors Ramón Cabanillas and Luis Tomas. However, it was very difficult for him to combine music studies with high school and he finally made a decision. He’s been studying remotely for four years thanks to a program designed for profiles like his. “Changing the face-to-face education for ‘online’ is a very difficult step, but when I went to high school it was impossible for me to study, do homework and go to the conservatory.” Over time, he has adapted to this new modality and currently considers it a good decision, which has made his life easier. “I used to have no time to hang out with my friends, now I’m doing really well, I think.” In his new stage in Madrid, he meets new people and enjoys the Reina Sofía School of Music, a very pleasant place for him.
For his concert this Sunday with the ÖSRM, Emin Kurkchyan has chosen works by Bach, Beethoven and Rachmaninov because he really wants to perform them. That is why although he is a “pretty lazy” person, he is hard at work preparing his repertoire. “When I get serious – he tells THE TRUTH – I spend many hours on it, although I don’t know how much. Nowadays there is a huge competition and therefore it is necessary to study a lot».
