Appreciating the efforts of these companies, making them known and promoting Murcian talent in the digital world are some of the objectives of the XIV edition of the Web Awards, prizes that aim to make originality and innovation visible on the Internet.
More than 250 candidates have been submitted for this fourteenth edition, of which the jury selected a total of 24 from the six existing categories (Companies; E-Commerce; Leisure/Service; Personal/blog; Associative and Startups). Next Thursday, July 7, they will all face each other at the event to be held at the Magna Garden banquet hall. The gala takes place outside and is presented by the magician Miguel de Lucas. As the evening progresses, the six winners will be announced, following a video highlighting each of the candidates so attendees can see who they are, what they do and what their website looks like. Those who see their name chosen as the winner will have to take the stage to receive the famous hand-shaped prize, which will be accompanied by an extensive advertising campaign in THE TRUTH worth €2,000.
The jury that selects the winners each year consists of a group of professionals with extensive experience in the field of information technology and the Internet. In this edition, the dean of the official college of telecommunications engineers of the region, Juan Luis Pedreño; the Dean of the Professional College of Computer Engineers of the Region, Jesús Martínez Martínez; UPCT Vice-Rector for Digital Transformation, Manuel Munuera Giner; the Territorial Director in Murcia of CaixaBank, Olga García; the President of the Murcian Association of Information Technology, Communications and Audiovisual Companies (Timur), Juan Celdrán Alenda; the Information Systems Coordinator of the Faculty of Communication and Documentation of the University of Murcia, Juan Antonio Pastor Sánchez; the co-founder of IT&IS and president of AlicanTec, Andrés Pedreño; LA VERDAD’s Business Director, Carlos López Portland, and LA VERDAD’s Director of Digital Development and Audiences, Juan Diego Sastre Sánchez.
The Web Awards have been held since 2008. The competition evolved at the same time as the web pages, which had to compete with other formats on the Internet, such as social networks, online advertisements and electronic trading platforms. To stand out from the crowd, the new portals use SEO and SEM strategies and boost the usability, accessibility, and creativity and originality of the content.
