The Bullas En Las Nubes bookstore organizes three special outdoor evenings to present works by Gonzalo Aloras, Lefer, Bellaco and Nathalie Paco
The bookstore and cultural space En Las Nubes de Bullas, run by the cultural promoters Isa Espín Collados and Emilia Gil Pérez in the street Huerto de Don Pepe, opens today at 9 p.m. the series of concerts and summer book presentations in its ‘ Nights of Music and books in the fresh air’. Several artists will be present until this Friday, August 19 with a great novelty: the return to the scene of Iluminados, the band that originated in Bullas and pioneers of the Spanish indie, in a special concert. Admission to the events is free.
After two years of inactivity due to the pandemic, the bookstore has again hosted the open-air presentation of three books this summer and will reveal the process and ins and outs of self-publishing, and there will be three live music performances.
Argentine singer and composer Gonzalo Aloras, who was a musician with the band Fito Páez, is going to the bookstore today, where his work ‘El syndrome de Greta’ (Spinoza Producciones, 2021) – written during the confinement due to the pandemic will be presented. In addition, taking advantage of his visit to the city, he will play some songs with Jesús Caparrós (Yuss Cawa) to start the cycle organized by En Las Nubes, in which the City Council of Bullas participates.
The events of the ‘Nights of music and books in the fresh air’ will continue on August 5 at 9 pm with the presentation of ‘El bar de Jo’ (The books of Mondo Brutto, 2021 ), by the independent journalists F. Lefer and Martin Bellaco. A 250-page book full of illustrations – some unpublished – about the history of one of the most legendary biker bars in the world, in Cabo de Gata. DJ Pirriqui will accompany the event.
On Friday, August 19, Nathalie Paco, press photographer and creator of Todayimages, talks about ‘Indieside: The Independent music scene in Spain in the 90s’ (2022), a self-published book funded through crowdfunding on the Verkami platform. It collects photos and lyrics from numerous national and international bands: «I was lucky enough to photograph these new groups at the right place and at the right time during concerts and interviews. Almost 30 years later, it’s time to share it,” explains the author of this exclusive work (500 copies). 50 of them meet in one night at the bookstore with appearances by Xesca Fort (from Alias Galor), Iluminados and Ana and Pecado. The book can be obtained by writing to the email enlasnubeslibre@gmail.com or by WhatsApp message on 676709175.
