One does not want “this ÖVP”, the other only if this or that condition is met, and yet no one wants Herbert Kickl. There is something kindergarten-like about this coalition game. Stop this exclusivity!
After all, this pre-election chatter isn’t worth the paper it’s written on. Every politically interested observer knows that after the elections everything can be different than before. So what use are the powerful promises?
No: first the deepest insults, then gender-free intimacy!
This happened, for example, recently in Lower Austria. A coalition between ÖVP and FPÖ was still considered impossible during the election campaign. We remember: the blacks warned of a red-blue specter that would plunge the country into the abyss, the FPÖ reached into the rumble box with “Moslem-Mama”, even for the blues, which were unusually deep. And now? Forget everything, the two merge in gender-free intimacy!
Who is actually “this” ÖVP?
But even the SPÖ don’t really know what they actually want. A few weeks ago the ÖVP was excluded as a coalition partner, neoboss Andreas Babler now only excludes cooperation with “this ÖVP”. This is a very flexible term – and of course leave all options open! So the way for ÖVP-SPÖ is now clear again…
Why is it generally said “no” to the blue one?
Given the quality of the handshake, it should come as no surprise that hardly any Austrians have faith in politics anymore. The “not with that” mentality tends to encourage more and more people to turn away from politics in disgust. Because why do you say “No” to a democratically legitimate party – like the FPÖ? The Blues still have a lot of appeal with voters whether they like it or not.
Is it only about the bickering of the parties?
It is a tradition in Germany for the parties to indicate during the election campaign with whom they would like to form a coalition, if successful. A positive coalition declaration would also be much more elegant for Austria than the eternal exclusionitis, which hardly lasts anyway! It would just be a lot less bickering. But maybe that’s exactly what the local parties are after.
