As society begins to return to some form of normalcy after the coronavirus pandemic, many of us are looking for a chance to escape on vacation.
Several countries recently relaxed travel restrictions, meaning international travel appears more likely for the first time in two years.
But before booking a flight, travelers are still reminded that the rules for traveling abroad can change very quickly, so it’s important to get insurance that covers you if you change your baggage plans.
To make up for lost time over the past two years, Belfast Live has compiled a list of several places to travel to this weekend for your vacation.
With so many options out and about and close to home, there are plenty of options if you want to get away this weekend.
England
There are many options if you want to travel from Northern Ireland to England on the weekends, but the cheapest destination is London.
The cheapest option is to leave Belfast International Airport at London Gatwick at 9:25 PM on Friday 11 March and fly on Sunday 13 March at 6:30 AM to Belfast City Airport.
This flight option compensates you 70 70 round trips with easyJet.
Scotland
Traveling to Scotland is always a good idea, and a flight to Glasgow this weekend is the cheapest option with a return of 11119.
EasyJet flights depart Belfast at 9.15pm on Friday and return to Northern Ireland at 10pm with the return flight on Sunday, perfect for weekends where you can spend two whole days in Scotland.
France
Want a romantic weekend getaway in Paris? May your dreams come true soon as easyJet offers the perfect round-trip for a quick getaway.
The direct flight departs from Belfast International Airport on Friday 11 March at 5:35 pm, with a return flight from Paris, from Charles de Gaulle, and back to Northern Ireland on Sunday 13 March at 7:10 pm.
The cost of the return trip is currently 2182, which includes one piece of baggage in a cabin of 45 x 36 x 20 cm per person.
If you want to travel to France, they have changed their travel rules. Fully vaccinated travelers can now visit the city for non-essential reasons, such as free days without quarantine or coveted pre-flight tests – this applies to anyone 12 and older.
Under previous rules, vaccinated patients required a negative PCR or antigen test result obtained within 48 hours of arrival.
If you want to get into restaurants and museums, you’ll need a pass-through vaccine.
Dutch
If you want a short break in the Netherlands, direct flights depart from Belfast on Friday and return on Sunday.
The return flight costs 8188, you can leave for Amsterdam at 9:50, and return on Sunday with an easyJet flight to Belfast at 14:20.
Fully vaccinated travelers over 12 years of age arriving in the Netherlands from the UK by plane, ferry, car, train or bus must show one of the following:
- A negative PCR result (not received more than 48 hours before departure), or;
- Negative antigen test result (not received more than 24 hours before departure)
Spain
Those who dream of a weekend getaway in Spain will be happy to know that you can fly direct from Belfast to Alicante on weekends.
Departing with Jet2 at 7:55 a.m. on Friday and returning with EasyJet at 1:05 p.m. on Sunday will give you two good days back to the Spanish city for 4244.
This weekend the weather in the Costa Blanca destination will be 18 degrees compared to the sun.
