Veronika and Leopold are in their mid-forties, both divorced. Veronika now wants a divorce from Leopold. “He doesn’t understand me and I don’t understand him,” she says. When her mother had to give up her own apartment and move into a retirement home after breaking her femur, his comment was curt and uninteresting: “Aha.” Although neither Veronika nor himself is interested in mountaineering or adventure travel, he gave her a one-man tent for her birthday. After the first climax with him, Veronika hugged him passionately. He looked at her helplessly, “Is something wrong?” To her urgent question, “Do you love me?”, he nonchalantly replied, “Why not?”
