Finance Minister Magnus Brunner (ÖVP) made it clear on Monday in the margins of the flood protection inspection with Lower Austria Deputy Governor Stephan Pernkopf in the Wachau that aid to Wien Energie is currently the top priority. “It takes whatever it takes,” Brunner told “Krone.”
However, the minister also sets conditions for the cash injection: “In principle, it is the task of the City of Vienna to be able to guarantee security of supply. As a federal government, we cannot help any company, only the city of Vienna. Of course, there will also be associated conditions for the support.”
Brunner: “We definitely need access to the files, other points are still under negotiation.”
Two billion euros will now be made available as emergency aid for Vienna.
