Hörl intervenes – climate bonus: next ÖVP attack against the Greens

Date:

After the resignation of VP Secretary General Laura Sachslehner in the wake of the turbulence surrounding the climate bonus for asylum seekers, the Tyrolean Economic Association and cable car boss Franz Hörl attacked coalition partner Greens. He pinpoints “ideology obsession”.

The Greens’ position and compliance with the regulation is about “ideological obsession,” the ÖVP member of the National Council told the APA. And what he, Hörl, think of the green ideology is well known anyway. The Tyrolean is considered a constant critic of green politics.

“In the sense of the big picture”
It was a matter of “compromise” or the “reality of a coalition,” the National Council member said when asked whether he liked the solution with a climate bonus for asylum seekers. The People’s Party accepted this “in the sense of the big picture” – because it would have been “alternative” that the urgently needed aid for the people, and especially for the families, would not have flown. The ÖVP was able to prevent that.

Hörl judged Sachslehner’s resignation as “necessary”, otherwise there would probably have been a reaction “on the part of the party”. The Tyrolean ÖVP Grande called the behavior of the top politician or her “personal statement” “somewhat solidarity and remarkable”. He did not identify a possible split in the party: “Not because of a secretary general.” When asked how long the turquoise-green coalition would last, Hörl said briefly: “Until 2024.”

Tyrolean VP has got Stein rolling
Hörl’s campaigning Tyrolean party friends got the ball rolling early this week and called for an “immediate review of payment modalities by the federal government”. The state party had said the climate bonus for asylum seekers was an “unacceptable and fatal signal”. Tyrol’s ÖVP chairman and top candidate Anton Mattle spoke out in favor of investigating the scheme, including for prisoners.
