The chairman of the CGPJ and the TS, Carlos Lesmes, completes his resignation


The President of the General Council of Justice has announced that the President of the Civil Chamber of the Supreme Court, Judge Francisco Marín, will be his deputy.

the chairman of General Council for the Judiciary (CGPJ) and Supreme Court (TS) Carlos Lesmes will explain the legal mechanism for their “possible replacement” to the court’s board of directors and the plenary session of the judges’ governing body next week, after threatening to waive act as No progress has been made on the renewal of the Council, which has been in office since 2018.

Lesmes prepares his departure in this way and announces that the President of the Civil Chamber of the Supreme Court, Magistrate Francisco Marinois due to take his position at the head of the High Court and the CGPJ after his announced resignation.

The CGPJ has reported in a note that Lesmes will be responsible for the report which he has requested from the Council’s Technical Service. This document sets out the step-by-step plan for his replacement at the head of the institution.

The report highlights that the Vice-Presidency of the Supreme Court has been vacant since October 2019 and that the position has since been temporarily filled by the senior chamber president, Judge Francisco Marín, who will replace Lesmes.

The meeting with the Supreme Court magistrates is scheduled for Monday and the meeting with the CGPJ plenary on Thursday.
