The President of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, has extraordinary meeting of the government today afternoon, in the light of the open crisis between the government partners (ERC and Samen). The meeting is scheduled to 5 p.m.after Aragonès suspended his calendar of events for today.

The summons comes after yesterday, Junt proposed to the president to submit to a confidence issue if he does not specify how he will fulfill the coalition agreement.

Aragonès said yesterday that he “will not participate in a game that causes instability in the institutions”.

The fact that the vice president of the government and the highest representative of Junts in the Executive, Jordi Puigneró, was aware of the proposal on the issue of trust and did not warn Aragonès in advance has caused discomfort in the Republican ranks , calling it an act of disloyalty to the president.

Yesterday, Tuesday, Pere Aragonès proposed to the government of Spain a “clarity agreement” to lay the groundwork for holding a referendum on self-determination, a mechanism similar to the Clarity Law that Canada approved for Quebec’s independence referendum. This was announced during his speech during the general orientation debate in the Catalan parliament. The Junts leader in Parliament Albert Batet called on Pere Aragonès to clarify whether he intends to adhere to three points of the government agreement: strategic direction of independence, strategic coordination in Madrid and dialogue table.
