The general secretary of Gipuzkoa’s PSE-EE has welcomed both the process and the outcome of his party’s primaries in San Sebastián, in which Marisol Garmendia won former mayor Odón Elorza.

The General Secretary of the PSE-EE of Gipuzkoa, Jose Ignacio Asensiowelcomed the primaries to be held this Sunday in San Sebastian, in which: Marisol Garmendia has been imposed on Odon Elorza as a socialist candidate. “It has been an exemplary process and now we have clear leadership,” Asensio assured in an interview on Radio Euskadi’s “Boulevard” program, adding that “it is time to make a good program.”
Asked if Elorza should be part of the candidacy de Garmendia in front of the office of the mayor of San Sebastian, the socialist secretary general explained that the former mayor “has a job to fulfill, and that is to ensure a stable government in Madrid and to represent Gipuzkoa in Congress”. In this sense, he has appreciated his work as a deputy in Madrid: “Elorza makes a beautiful work in Congress, and I want him to continue to do so.
Looking forward to the next one elections from 2023, Asensio has a “remarkably high” to all governments that the socialists have cooperated with the PNV, “because we have worked very well in solving difficulties and have provided stability”.
However, given the possibility of reissue of the pacts PSE-PNV, the Socialist Secretary General has assured that: “depends on the results”and does not rule out making specific agreements with any formation, “especially for the good of citizens and the stability of governments”.
