Krisper in conversation: – ‘We cannot afford incompetent politicians’

Date:

The minutes of Thomas Schmid’s investigation last week caused quite a stir and brought many new things to light for the public. “The burden of proof has increased significantly as a result,” said Stefanie Krisper, NEOS faction leader in the ÖVP-U committee in the krone.tv conversation with Jana Pasching. It is clear to her that action must be taken now, reforms must be initiated and discussions initiated – for example on the anti-corruption law. “The government wants to keep us there, including the Greens.”

Another problem for Krisper: “We don’t have a culture of resignation when criminal law leads to immoral behavior and when ministers just look the other way and the ministries make fun of them.” As a result, our ministries are imbued with incompetent people and therefore dysfunctional will. “In times of crisis like now we can’t afford it.”

“Yes, there have been layoffs, but not out of self-reflection because they did something wrong, but because they were victims. Under Chancellor Karl Nehammer, I’ve been waiting for something else and for a politician from the ÖVP to find the right words,” Krisper said.

Stefanie Krisper doesn’t understand that former chancellor Sebastian Kurz sees himself as an innocent scapegoat. “Sebastian Kurz was chancellor in an era where we have clearly revealed – and criminal proceedings are already underway – that corruption has been pushed to the limit and has been professionalized in many areas.” Kurz is responsible for this, even though in some areas he may not have known about it. Continuing to build the wall and portraying Schmid as a liar is the only reaction the ÖVP has now. The ÖVP is not interested in clarifying this, but is torpedoing the work, Krisper said.

“The evidence brought to light by the Schmid investigation is really different now,” said the NEOS faction leader. The courts must make clear what they think of his rulings. However, from the politician’s point of view, they are quite believable, “because they are consistent with the files and the many chats we have”.
