Deals with third countries – Carinthian LH Kaiser for regular labor migration

Date:

The SPÖ governor of Carinthia, Peter Kaiser, spoke out on Saturday in favor of controlled labor migration. Wherever it is desired, “regular migration must be organized within the framework of the rule of law,” Kaiser said on Ö1. In any case, illegal, irregular migration must be reduced.

Emperors have in mind agreements with third countries such as Morocco or Tunisia. If they take back illegal migrants, they should be given opportunities for legal labor migration to Austria. “But that would also mean that the associated infrastructure would have to be created in cooperation with these third countries on the ground in the states themselves,” says Kaiser. This means that “the traffickers can actually be robbed of their human prey”.

Kaiser justified the fact that Carinthia is currently in last place when it comes to quotas for receiving asylum seekers by saying that they are lagging behind when it comes to displaced persons from Ukraine. However, according to Kaiser, attempts are being made to create more living space.

“Doskozil’s doors are always open”
Towards Burgenland’s mayor, Hans Peter Doskozil, who has repeatedly criticized a lack of line from the SPÖ on the issue of migration and has not been a member of the presidency since 2021 at his own request, Kaiser says: “The doors are always open. And if a door is open, you have to go through it, then you are in the same room.”

On the issue of the top candidate for the upcoming National Council elections, Kaiser reiterated that it was a “good tradition” in the SPÖ for the party leader to run as the top candidate. According to Kaiser, at least Pamela Rendi-Wagner has his support.
