On Wednesday morning, as part of a ceremony (see livestream above) in the city hall, Vienna will hand over the chairmanship of the provincial governor’s conference to Burgenland, which will lead the committee under the motto “Security in turbulent times”.
With the handover of Viennese governor Michael Ludwig to his counterpart in Burgenland, Hans Peter Doskozil, the presidency will remain in the hands of the SPÖ in the first half of 2023.
Care, health and overcoming the energy crisis were recently mentioned as spearheads for the coming months. Other important dates have already been set: State finance officials will meet in Schlaining on 4 and 5 May. The state governors’ conference will take place on 6 and 7 June in Andau.
Burgenland also assumes the presidency of the Federal Council
At the same time as the provincial presidency, Burgenland also assumed the presidency of the Federal Council in the first half of the year. Günter Kovacs (SPÖ) has been president since the beginning of this year. He succeeded the Viennese Bundesrat Korinna Schumann (SPÖ). They will also be present at the handover ceremony at the town hall.
