The large-scale speech by Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) continues to catch on. Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler (Greens) discussed this in detail for the first time on Tuesday. He sees no problem for the turquoise-green coalition, the ÖVP boss finally gave a speech for the year 2030 and beyond. In terms of content, Kogler disagrees at all, especially on the climate issue: one should “work ahead and not look for salvation in the past”, he said.
In his speech last Friday, Nehammer opposed the end of the internal combustion engine and the “apocalypse of doom”. The Greens were somewhat annoyed. The Greens were also not happy with Nehammer’s – vague – proposal to halve social security for foreigners. “I don’t know who can do anything with this announcement,” Kogler said, somewhat bewildered.
