The Director of the National Intelligence Center (CNI), Peace Stephencontributed this Thursday to the Congressional Reserved Expenses Committee de judicial authorizations to spy on twenty pro-independence politiciansincluding Aragonès, according to EFE sources familiar with the content of the meeting.
In a statement, Aragonès said it “confirms and magnifies the seriousness of the case of mass espionage by the Spanish state against the Catalan institutions and the independence movement”, for which he has demanded “a response at the highest level”
Aragonès recalls in his statement that the CNI is a “department integrated in the Ministry of Defense, which “is alleged to have recognized the espionage with judicial authorization of 18 persons associated with Catalan institutions and the independence movement, including the president of the Generalitat”.
According to the president, there is a “blatant violation of the right to privacy, political and institutional participation, both of the people being spied on and of all their relatives”.
“We demand that the judicial authorization be released immediately to: know their motivations and to be able to exercise the right of defence,” he emphasizes.
And he adds: “It is urgent to receive all public statements on this matter, as well as… know who gave the political consent And who was aware of that? And that’s why we demand a response at the highest level.”
