Greens for Redesign – How the commuter flat rate is now a dispute

Date:

The abolition of the increased travel deduction threatens to cost 1.3 million Austrians a lot of money from the end of June. An extension of the current measure seems off the table nationwide, at least under the same conditions. Climate Protection Minister Leonore Gewessler (Greens) calls for a “redesign”. In Lower Austria, people go their own way.

Even before the federal government’s controversial anti-inflation package takes effect, previously installed support payments are in danger of disappearing. This also applies to the increase in the commuting allowance and the euro commuting that came into effect in May 2022. As reported, the commuter euro, which has been raised to 50 cents per kilometer, will fall to its normal value and the generous surcharge on the flat rate will be completely abolished.
