On Monday there was still talk and on Tuesday the SPÖ leader announced his management team. It is rejuvenated and has a high percentage of women.
In the end, Babler’s team will not differ much from the team that Hans Peter Doskozi wanted to form.
Lercher took himself out of the race
Only one player was eliminated, namely Doskozil’s campaign manager Max Lercher. The Styrian MP already made his fate dependent on the outcome of the elections at the start of the internal election campaign.
On Monday afternoon, the last talks took place between the new strong SPÖ man Babler and his favourites. On Tuesday, the team will be presented and approved in the party presidency.
Herr becomes federal manager
One thing seems certain: Burgenland’s political talent Julia Herr (30), who supported Babler throughout the election campaign, will be the new federal manager of the SPÖ. However, the party will be led by a duo in the future so that Herr can handle the reorganization of the party.
Kucher as a signal to the Doskozil camp
It was exciting until the end who could become the new boss of the parliamentary club. Because he or she will become a powerful voice within the SPÖ alongside Babler. It seems that Babler wants to send a signal to camp Doskozil, because the Carinthian Philip Kucher (41) is on the shortlist. The SPÖ health spokesman was in the Doskosil team until recently, but is very popular in the parliamentary club. This is crucial as the club leaders must be confirmed by election by the MPs.
Holzleitner gets an important role in the club
Eva-Maria Holzleitner (30) will play an important role at the club, but the Upper Austrian is already SPÖ woman president. As she herself says, she is very busy with this role.
It was unclear until the end whether she would dare to take on the double burden of the head of the club and the women’s president of SPÖ. There may also be a new double lead Holzleitner with Kucher.
Krainer as an alternative
An alternative, if one of the candidates cancels, should be Kai Jan Krainer (54). The Reds’ “Mister U-Committee” has been committed to top positions for many years. He has been in parliament for 20 years.
However, he never reached the top. The Viennese is considered eloquent, but not very popular with all comrades.
