Young people answer – This is how the voters of the parties work online

Date:

Social media is more important than ever in the election campaign. Instagram and Co. are often the only way for a party to reach young people. But which batches sell particularly well and which sell poorly? 17-year-old “Krone” intern Marie did some research.

After analyzing the individual accounts, the students quickly identified two favorite Instagram channels. The SPÖ and the Greens have the most informative and beautifully designed reports to their taste.

Parties score on different levels
The content is easy to understand and appears professionally produced. “The Greens have a wonderful feed of regular videos and photos,” says a 17-year-old student. The SPÖ scores with many videos, which are “of course viewed less than posts, but much more statements,” explains a high school student.

Interaction with viewers: there is praise for that
The NEOS profile is the clear favorite on TikTok. “The NEOS try to make their content understandable through ‘memes’ and youth language,” says one student. In addition, the TikTok account of Yannik Shetty, member of the National Council of NEOS, is experienced as very appealing and informative. His short videos are known to many. Among other things, he publishes excerpts from his speeches in the National Council and interacts a lot with his viewers.

Not all luck
The Instagram profiles of the FPÖ and the beer party are the least comprehensible. They are confusingly structured and not very varied. Nevertheless, the leader of the beer party is praised. “Marco Pogo is really funny,” says one of the interviewees.

The FPÖ is also the worst when it comes to evaluating the TikTok profiles. The profile is very impersonal and the content is difficult to understand. “The FPÖ is too serious and not funny for me,” explains a 17-year-old student.
