The Socialist candidate obtained an absolute majority (178 votes) in the first ballot.

The former president of the Balearic Islands, Francina Armengol, was appointed president of the Congress table on Thursday by first ballot and with an absolute majority (178 votes).

The PP candidate to preside over Congress, Cuca Gamarra, received the support of 139 votes (137 from the PP, one from UPN and one from Coalición Canaria). For its part, Vox supports its presidential candidate Ignacio Gil Lázaro (33 votes).

The Constituent Session of Congress began at 10 a.m. with the nomination of the age table that will guide the vote of the nine posts in the Bureau of the Chamber, including the Presidency. The presidency will be given to the oldest deputy, in this case the former socialist minister Cristina Narbona, who will be assisted as secretaries by the two youngest parliamentarians, also from the PSOE: Ada Santana from the Canary Islands and Catalan Ferrán Verdejo.

After reading the names of the 350 elected delegates, the election for the presidency of the Congress took place by secret ballot and ballot box.
