Juan Carlos I will spend the weekend in the Galician city of Sanxenso and next Monday he will meet King Felipe VI in Madrid.
Juan Carlos de Borbón will return to Spain this Thursday, having fled to the United Arab Emirates in August 2020 after it was revealed he was being investigated for corruption.
As confirmed by the Palacio de la Zarzuela, the one who was monarch for nearly four decades will remain in the Galician city of Sanxenso between Thursday and Sunday, but on Monday he will move to Madrid.
His intention is to be with King Felipe VI, Queen Sofia and other members of the family at the Palacio de la Zarzuela before returning to Abu Dhabi that same day, “where he has established his permanent and stable residence.”
From Zarzuela, they emphasize that the visit of Juan Carlos de Borbón is part of his desire to “travel often to Spain to visit family and friends” and to “organize his personal life and his residence in areas of a private character” as he in the letter of March 5 to his heir.
