For Mikl-Leitner, “the essential” is a relaxation of credit guidelines. “Anyone who prevents people from buying their own home will have to deal with me.” The enemy has a name: the Financial Market Authority (FMA). Another thorn in the governor’s side are the Greens – and their CO2 tax.

According to forecasts, fuel prices will continue to rise. Co2 pricing is probably the rather inedible icing on the cake here – and is putting further pressure on the stock markets. “The Greens are harming all commuters,” says Mikl-Leitner, expressing her anger.
