Russian Ambassador to Austria Dmitry Ljubinski has been summoned to the Vienna Foreign Ministry over the devastating Russian missile attack on the Ukrainian village of Hrosa. Secretary General Nikolaus Marschik had a conversation with him on Friday morning, the ministry said in a statement.
The reason was the rocket attack on a village in Kharkiv Oblast on Thursday, which killed more than fifty civilians, including at least one child. The incident caused international outrage. The Russian army is “absolutely bad,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in his video address on Thursday. Representatives of the EU and the UN also condemned the attack. Ukrainian authorities say at least 51 people have been killed by Russian rocket fire in Hrosa, not far from the city of Kupyansk, and three people are missing.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs: “International humanitarian law violated”
According to Ukrainian sources, at the time of the shelling, the villagers had gathered in a cafe for a memorial service for a deceased compatriot. The UN and the European Union also condemned the attack. “With this brutal attack on civilian targets, the Russian Federation is once again violating international humanitarian law. Those responsible for these war crimes must be held accountable. Austria will continue to work on this together with other partners,” the Austrian Foreign Ministry emphasized.
