NEOS economic spokesman Gerald Loacker will no longer participate in the upcoming National Council elections in 2024. The Vorarlberger announced on Facebook on Monday evening that he would make his place available again. “Live freedom instead of clinging to an armchair,” the politician wrote.
This was the motto under which he entered Parliament ten years ago. Gerald Loacker (49) wrote on Facebook that he had secured two re-elections and that development work in his home state was paying off.
In the National Council he made pensions “a topic more often than colleagues outside (and sometimes within) my group would like.” Nowadays almost everyone there knows what the “Swedish model” is. In Sweden, citizens between the ages of 61 and 69 can decide for themselves when they want to retire. However, the sooner you leave, the less money you get.

In the post, the NEOS politician also emphasized his intensive work on the chambers and his opposition to mandatory vaccination against Covid-19. “In my responsibility to my supporters and all my constituents, I have done my best for ten years – and I will continue to do so in the coming months.”
Possible successor?
Now it’s time for something new. “Our state party has many capable people running for successor.” Loacker did not reveal his own future plans in the post. In the coming months he will do his best in the National Council. Since October 30, he has been in the National Council for almost ten years.
