Austria has completed its review of aid funds for Palestinian purposes. Only one of the development projects could be found to be linked to anti-Semitic activities. There are nine projects with a total value of 17.5 million euros.
Payments for aid projects for Palestinians that were recently suspended “will now be released.” The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this in a press release on Thursday. Following Hamas’ terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, Austria froze and controlled funds for nine EZA projects with a total value of 17.5 million euros. However, one project will be stopped with immediate effect.
No terrorist connections
“The purpose of this review was to ensure that not a cent of Austrian taxpayers’ money goes to Hamas or is used for anti-Israel or anti-Semitic propaganda,” the ministry explained. The investigation now finds: “There is no evidence that Austrian EZA projects funded by the ADA were misused to finance or promote terrorism or to spread anti-Semitic content.”
A local NGO implementing a project to increase women’s participation in the labor market signed an anti-Israel statement after October 7. “The NGO, which has actually done impeccable work, can of course no longer be a partner for us,” it said in a press release. There will be no further cooperation with this organization.
