In addition to the award for civil courage, police officers also received awards and certificates. The ceremony also marked the start of the training for 50 young people. And for 29 it was the start of patrol duty. One of the new police officers particularly stood out: it was Leonhard Edtstadler, the son of Minister Karoline Edtstadler. The Salzburg resident revealed in her almost election campaign-like speech that she was there as a family member. And she was visibly proud as she threw her arms around her son’s neck as she handed over the final decree – amid a storm of flashes from the photographers present.
