“Do not tolerate” – Babler-Sager causes criticism from Burgenland

The fact that the SPÖ leader morally condemns Gusenbauer’s behavior, as he confirmed in ZiB 2 on Monday, and that he “does not represent the SPÖ” is apparently not enough for the comrades in the easternmost federal state. “In Burgenland we would not tolerate this and initiate an exclusion because such behavior is incompatible with social democratic values,” emphasizes Roland Fürst, club leader of the SPÖ Burgenland and right-hand man of Governor Hans Peter Doskozil, to krone.at.

He clearly criticized Babler’s attitude on Tuesday evening: you cannot preach social democracy on Sunday and live the opposite from Monday to Saturday, Fürst said. “You simply cannot explain that to the saleswoman at the cash register who should vote for us,” said the red politician.

The criticism from our own ranks does not stop
The fact that such a statement came from Burgenland one day after Babel’s ‘ZiB 2’ interview shows that the crossfire on the federal party has not stopped from there, even after the departure of Pamela Rendi-Wagner – even though Doskozil the federal policy chapter for itself stated that it ended in June 2023. Tyrolean SPÖ leader Georg Dornauer also recently criticized the comrades in the National Council: they played into Kickl’s hands because they had set up a U-committee together with the FPÖ.

SPÖ leader Babler must continue to strive for a uniform line in his party in the super election year of 2024. This intersection is unlikely to be helpful in the hoped-for race to catch up in the election polls.
