The Lehendakari, after meeting with the President of the Corsican Executive Council, chose to develop and “deepen” the self-government recognized in the Statute in order to “adapt it to the 21st century”.

the lehendakari Inigo Urkulluduring an official visit to Corsicahas defined the Basque and Corsican peoples as “two nations that aspire to respond to the needs and demands of citizens in a spirit of cooperation” and who “want to progress in a project of integration of Europe based on the diversity of peoples who make up for it.”
The Lehendakari met the President of the Executive Council of Corsica, Gilles Simeon, and with other political, economic and cultural agents of the island. In a statement after the meeting, Urkullu referred to the self-government Basque. It has chosen to develop what is recognized in the Gernika Statute, “in accordance with an organic law dating from 40 years ago”, further adapting it to the 21st century and deepening it.
Then the Lehendakari visited the Parliament of Corsica and is preparing for a speech by the Legislative Chamber.
