The Lehendakari will sign the decree calling for elections today, February 26, 2024

The decree will be published tomorrow in the Official Gazette of the Basque Country, and at the same time the Basque Parliament will be dissolved. The elections will be held 54 days later, i.e. on April 21.

Lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu signed the decree calling for elections to the Basque Parliament before April 21st.

The decree will be published tomorrow, Tuesday, in the Official Gazette of the Basque Country (BOPV). the Basque parliament will be dissolved and the countdown to the elections can begin.

According to the election calendar, the Electoral Council will be established on March 1 and political forces will have from March 13 to 18 to present their candidacies. Eight days later they are officially proclaimed. The election campaign starts on Easter Friday, April 5, and will last fifteen days. After the day of reflection, the elections will be, as we said, on April 21.

On the eve of this movement, the Basque government announced yesterday the filing of an appeal against unconstitutionality to the Constitutional Court against the state law on the right to housing (Law 12/2023) “for violation of powers”.
