The program starts with a tribute to the British journalist George Steer, whose chronicles brought the devastation caused by the Franco air raid to the world.

In addition, during this day there is the XVII Gernika Peace Prizeswhich will be received by the Lebanese group Combatants for Peace – consisting of Israelis and Palestinians, among others – and by the group Los Justos del Mediterráneo, a platform that carries out rescue operations at sea.

These awards are given in recognition of the “contribution” of both organizations “to building the peace and the promotion of reconciliationthe human rights and the social justiceof the winners.
