Arriola replaces Mendia as second acting vice president after his resignation

The Basque Country Gazette published this Tuesday the resignation of the hitherto Minister of Labor and Employment, who will be on the socialist lists in the European elections. As announced, Minister of Tourism Javier Hurtado will assume the tasks assigned to the ministry.

The Basque Country Gazette (BOPV) was published on Tuesday the dismissal of Idoia Mendia as Second Vice President and Minister of Labor and Employment of the Basque government, after she resigned to run for the European elections.

As described in the Lehendakari Decree: Iñaki Arriolathe current Acting Minister of Territorial Planning, Housing and Transport, will take over the functions attributed to the Second Vice President from today.

For its part, and in line with what was previously announced, it corresponds to another socialist advisor Javier Hurtado – currently responsible for Tourism, Trade and Consumer Affairs – will serve as Minister of Labor and Employment until the next government takes office.
