Date:

The JEC has validated twelve electoral coalitions, including that of the PNV (together with the Canary Coalition), that of EH Bildu (Now Republics, together with ERC and BNG) and that of Sumar.

The Official Gazette (BOE) has published the 39 candidacies submitted by the various parties and coalitions for the European elections on June 9, in which 61 deputies of the European Parliament will be elected by the Spanish state.

Because the constituency in the European elections is at state level, the lists had to be submitted to the Central Electoral Council. The formations that did not gain seats in the previous electionsthat of 2019, They must also have provided at least 15,000 citizen signatures as approval.

Administering the single constituency system, which is only used in European Parliament elections, forces territorial formations to join forces to have a chance of winning a seat in Strasbourg.

For this call, the JEC has validated twelve electoral coalitions, including the PNV (together with Canary Coalition)that of EH Bildu (now Repúblicas, together with ERC and BNG) and from Add. In addition, another pro-independence alliance is also presented, formed by Junts+UE and another that brings together local parties from the so-called empty Spain, with Aragón Exist at the top of the list.

As soon as the lists are published in the BOE, the Electoral Council must investigate compliance of all formal requirements, respect for equality and the expressions of support from extra-parliamentary formations. After this investigation and a few days to correct errors, the JEC will then proceed to announce the final candidacies for the European Parliament, which will return to the BOE on Tuesday, May 14.
