In an interview on krone.tv, SPÖ-EU top candidate Andreas Schieder comments on a number of current EU issues, but also on domestic politics.
“We need to talk to the pharmaceutical industry in the EU. We want complete security of supply in Europe. This means that you also have to start producing these medicines that you have outsourced to China or elsewhere in Europe. Especially where ships are currently running aground,” said Andreas Schieder in the interview with korne.tv.
Europe first is the slogan of the SPÖ-EU top candidates in this respect. However, Schieder does not want this to be interpreted as a reference to Donald Trump; rather, it is a commitment to Europe as a place for business. They do not want photovoltaic panels from China, but from European production. Schieder: “In future European tenders, products from Europe should be given preference over American and Asian products.” You simply cannot allow Europe to be filled with cheap products from outside. For example, with electric cars with cheap Chinese batteries.
Surprised by “farts”.
Schieder did not want to explicitly comment on the confusing situation surrounding Green EU list leader Lena Schilling: “What is that to me? These are green difficulties. I believe that the Green Party and Lena Schilling should make this clear to the public. I was a little surprised that Vice Chancellor and Green Party leader Werner Kogler was talking about farts. It is a serious matter, but not a matter for us political competitors.”
From his personal perspective, Schieder was able to achieve and achieve a lot in his first five years in the EU Parliament: “That was the climate package, the Green Deal. But there were also better social rights for platform services. So food delivery people or Uber drivers. Or fairer conditions for truck drivers, such as longer rest times and better sanitary facilities.”
But he is not always only in Brussels, but often also in Austria and Vienna. He still dares to go to Reumannplatz at night. He has never been afraid of this and has none now.
