The ÖVP and FPÖ in particular criticised the high benefits, as less was paid out in other states.

After the two state governors Markus Wallner (Vorarlberg) and Christopher Drexler (Styria) had already spoken out in favor of uniform social assistance, Ludwig is now also following the same line.
Ludwig: AMS must be strengthened financially and in terms of personnel
In the Ö1 “Mittagsjournal” on Tuesday, the mayor of Vienna called for the AMS to be strengthened both financially and in terms of personnel, and to be enabled to support a nationwide solution. The minimum income must “move away from the states,” says Ludwig: “The same framework conditions are needed everywhere.”
Ludwig calls on the federal government to implement an “active labor market policy” instead of debates about the level of the minimum income. “For all those who are unemployed, an offensive is needed throughout Austria to bring them into the labor market and provide them with the right qualifications, given the shortage of skilled workers. This will not be achieved by cutting the AMS budget – as planned by the federal government – but only by significantly increasing the necessary resources.”
Ludwig wants basic child safety
“In addition, it would be useful to provide basic safety for children,” Ludwig adds. These measures should be combined with a two-year integration program, which also includes a residency requirement.
This will make it possible to integrate adult recipients of minimum security better than before into the labor market and at the same time protect children, Ludwig says. Ludwig also wants to present his proposal at the next conference of state governors, he said Tuesday.
