“We have a clear mission: to end the stagnation,” NEOS Secretary General Douglas Hoyos said on Tuesday. Accordingly, the election manifesto is titled “Reforms for your new Austria.” The focus is on pensions and education (see video above).
The party proposes a “new model” for pensions. “People should decide for themselves when they want to retire,” says Hoyos. Those who work longer will receive more money. There will also be a pension account with a tax-free income of up to 3,000 euros per year.
In the education sector, NEOS is calling for 20,000 additional teachers. There should be a “full-time bonus” of 1,200 euros per year to motivate teachers to work more. In addition, working conditions in schools should be improved.
“Being able to build something”
Further demands: lower taxes, make politics more transparent, and the next generations must be able to “build something for themselves.” The goal is to create “trust” among the population. What is needed is a “courageous government that takes the lead,” Hoyos said. “We are the force for reform.”
NEOS boss Beate Meinl-Reisinger was not present at the presentation of the election program in Vienna. It was said that she was on her way to the European Forum Alpbach.
