Illegal crossing – Harris pledges tougher migration laws

Date:

US presidential candidate Kamala Harris has pledged to take a tougher stance on migration along the US southern border. Harris told CNN she would renew her push for comprehensive border legislation.

“We have laws that need to be followed and enforced that affect people who cross our border illegally, and there should be consequences,” the Democratic presidential candidate said.

In the interview, she also spoke about the Middle East, climate and economic policy. She remained closely aligned with the incumbent US President Joe Biden. There should be a ceasefire and the release of the hostages in the Gaza Strip. Too many innocent Palestinians have been killed.

Stick to arms supplies
Therefore, arms shipments to Israel should not be reconsidered. “Israel has the right to defend itself. It depends on how it does that.” Harris presented the Biden administration’s economic and climate policies as a success. A poorly managed economy was inherited from his predecessor Donald Trump.

However, it is possible that she will also appoint a Republican to her Cabinet (see video above). “I think it is important to have people with different views and experiences at the table when we are making the most important decisions. And I think it would be beneficial to the American public to have a member of my Cabinet who is a Republican,” the presidential candidate said.

Leaders among women
Kamala Harris leads U.S. voters with 45 percent support, ahead of Trump on 41 percent, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Thursday. The gap is more pronounced among women and Hispanic voters. However, in the seven U.S. states that had the strongest showings in the 2020 presidential election, Trump is ahead of Harris.
