The TV duels on ORF will enter the next round on Thursday evening. From 8:15 p.m. SPÖ leader Andreas Babler and ÖVP Chancellor Karl Nehammer will duel, followed by NEOS leader Beate Meinl-Reisinger and Green Party leader Werner Kogler. You can watch it yourself in the live ticker of krone.at.
Can the gap with the FPÖ be closed by election day? Current surveys show how close the top is. Hardly anyone can afford to make mistakes. Nehammer and Babler are worlds apart politically, but both still believe they have a chance at the chancellorship. Both rule out a coalition with Herbert Kickl.
The duel between Meinl-Reisinger and Kogler could also be groundbreaking: NEOS and the Greens are speculating with fourth place and have legitimate hopes of playing a role in the formation of a future government.
The ÖVP has recently been able to gradually reduce the gap with the FPÖ. Current surveys show that Nehammer’s People’s Party is between 23 and 25 percent. Closely followed by Babler and the SPÖ.
