NEOS is celebrating their tenth anniversary this year. Boss Beate Meinl-Reisinger will be in office for four years on June 23. A lot has happened since 2018: Ibiza, Corona, war and crises, inflation is currently tormenting us greatly. An important topic at “Club 3”, in which Meinl-Reisinger was questioned.
“I’m glad there’s a package now. It hasn’t really looked like it in weeks.” Parts of the package are really good. But sometimes it’s a sham. For example, the lack of automation in doing away with cold progression, a long-standing requirement of NEOS. Moreover, it would often be poured with the watering can, acting too little accurately. Instead “helicopter money for everyone”.
Austria’s role as a mediator in war? “Relatively insignificant. Scholz, Draghi and Macronin’s visit to Kiev was far more important than our chancellor’s journey.” When it comes to neutrality, Meinl-Reisinger wants “above all honesty. Not this outdated discussion.”
Possible new elections were discussed. The NEOS are in polls at twelve percent, in the last election they had eight. “In terms of party tactics, I would have nothing against new elections. But that would only upset people and the economy more.”
In “Club 3” the editors-in-chief of “Krone”, “Kurier” & “profil” talk to guests from politics, business and the media.
