The Ukrainian government wants to give the propaganda-blinded Russian population a realistic picture of what is happening in the war – and thus undermine Kremlin-loyal reporting in the neighboring country.
“It is important for us that the perception of the war in Russia deteriorates,” President Volodymyr Zelensky said in his evening video address. Russian society must learn the negative consequences of Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin’s policies.
At the same time, Zelenskyi spoke about his government’s “victory plan”, which he wanted to present to US President Joe Biden during his visit to the United States in the coming days. Acute military issues should not be ignored, the president said.
“Of course, we are also preparing for what Russia will do next in the battles on the front lines,” Zelensky continued. The Ukrainian leadership is constantly working to ensure that it has sufficient forces and resources to produce and deliver drones. “No matter how the situation in the world changes, no matter how the circumstances change: Ukrainian soldiers must have everything they need for our successful defensive and active actions.”
Ukraine increasingly relies on drones
Ukraine has ramped up production of drones in recent months. In recent months, Ukrainian forces have used these drones to increasingly strike military and logistical targets on Russian territory, complicating the supply of Russian troops to the fronts in Ukraine. However, these combat drones have low explosive power, but are currently the only way for Kiev to strike targets inside Russia. Despite repeated requests, allies have not yet allowed Kiev to use its long-range weapon systems – artillery rockets and cruise missiles – for these attacks.
Zelensky speaks of Ukrainian ‘victory plan’
In this context, Zelensky mentioned the Ukrainian “Victory Plan,” which has “military, political, diplomatic and economic content.” The main steps have already been worked out “to move closer to peace – a real, just peace.” “All in all, this package can ensure the correct development of the situation, not only for Ukraine, but for all peoples of the world who value international law.”
