A week before the National Council elections, the election campaign is entering its final. During the elephant round “Krone” in collaboration with Puls 4, a new study will be presented tonight that shows who was ahead in the final of the election campaign, who was the last to lose and who won.
Next Sunday it will be time. Around 6.3 million Austrians will then be asked to cast their votes. The elephant round “Krone” offers all voters a real orientation aid on Sunday evening, in which Karl Nehammer (ÖVP), Andreas Babler (SPÖ), Werner Kogler (Greens) and Beate Meinl-Reisinger (NEOS) are four of the five top countries candidates in the pols. 24 studio meet. The exchange was moderated by Klaus Herrmann, editor-in-chief of “Krone”, and Manuela Raidl (PULS 24).
New research shows: FPÖ stable in first place
Crucial topics are currently being discussed – as well as a current study. The Institute for Demoscopy and Data Analysis (IFDD) went into the field on behalf of ATV, Puls4, Puls24 and Kronen Zeitung. The results are presented once again in the TV studio and show: Despite all the resistance, the Blues around party leader Herbert Kickl are still firmly in first place.
Although the ÖVP has made up ground in recent months, the FPÖ’s lead in the final round of the election campaign is still two percentage points. The ÖVP around Chancellor Karl Nehammer will suffer the biggest losses in the National Council elections (37.46 percent in 2019), but still has a chance to become the big winner.
Storm disasters
The recent storm disasters interrupted the election campaign and gave the ÖVP the chance to profile itself as a local helper. The data shows that there is still a chance for first place. However, the two parties have not made any movement since the most recent “Krone” poll on September 7.
In contrast to the SPÖ. According to current data, party leader Andreas Babler has little chance of getting into the chancellor duel. Compared to the previous survey, he managed to gain at least one percent. As a reminder, in the 2019 National Council elections, the SPÖ under Pamela Rendi-Wagner achieved 21.18 percent – the historical worst result of the Social Democrats. In the EU elections, the SPÖ under Andreas Schieder came third in a national election for the first time – now Babler is threatened with a similar fate.
Greens on the rise, beer festival plummets
The storms, on the other hand, probably played into the hands of the Greens. By comparison, Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler and his team also managed to gain one percentage point because the issue of environmental protection was raised late in the election campaign. The biggest loser compared to the most recent survey is the beer party around Dominik Wlazny. They lost two percent in just two weeks. The listless and rather meaningless TV appearances of the party leader may have contributed significantly to this.
