Before the presidential elections in the US, the American state of Washington puts the National Guard on standby in view of possible riots.
Washington Governor Jay Inslee wants to be “fully prepared” for possible civil unrest around Election Day on November 5. A firebomb set fire to a ballot box in the northwestern US state early this week. Hundreds of ballots were damaged or destroyed.
Almost simultaneously, a similar incident occurred in the neighboring city of Portland, Oregon.
Maintaining public safety
Inslee is now responding to this incident and to nationwide warnings from the Department of Homeland Security about threats to election infrastructure. As many National Guard members as needed should be activated between Monday, November 4 and Thursday, November 7.
This is necessary to maintain public safety and the well-being of everyone.
The presidential elections in the US are next Tuesday. According to polls, a neck-and-neck race is likely to emerge between Democrat Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump. Early voting has already begun in several states.
Trump is certain that only “fraud” can stop him. Climate activist Greta Thunberg warned against the Republican. This is “more dangerous than Harris”.
