The US proudly bills itself as the oldest democracy in the world. However, the development of wisdom has not necessarily kept pace. The biggest casualty of Trump’s presidency will be climate protection. This stance has more impact on the world than any other of Trump’s actions, especially because it is seen by emerging industrialized countries in Asia, such as India and China, as a welcome signal to abandon their own efforts. Away from the world’s attention, more tropical forests are already being cut down in Indonesia than in the Amazon.
