British Health Minister Wes Streeting advises people to be careful with cheap cosmetic surgery abroad. “My strong advice to British travelers is that if the offer seems too good to be true, I assume it is too good to be true,” he told the PA news agency.
Think carefully before traveling abroad assuming you will pay a ridiculous price there. You may have to suffer the consequences for the rest of your life.
Several deaths after cosmetic surgery in Turkey
At least six people from Britain died after medical procedures in Turkey last year, PA reported, citing the Foreign Office in London. Some also experienced complications after the procedure or required further treatment.
In travel advice for Turkey, the British government warns that you should consult your own doctor or dentist for medical procedures. “Private companies have a financial interest in you booking your treatment there, and their data should not be your only source of information.”
Assess and weigh risks
According to PA, the minister has announced that he wants to collaborate with international partners in this area. But there also needs to be a strong message to the British public to assess the risk and think carefully before making such offers.
According to PA, this concerns tummy tucks, breast lifts, liposuction or buttock enlargement.
