North Korea is getting serious: the country’s ruler Kim Jong Un has called on the military to “concentrate all efforts on completing preparations for war.”
According to KCNA, Kim made the comments during a speech to battalion commanders in Pyongyang on Friday. He described the Korean peninsula as “the world’s largest problem area.” Kim also accused the United States and South Korea of raising tensions in Korea to “the worst level in history.”
On Saturday, the Financial Times reported, based on reliable sources, that North Korea is now supporting its ally Russia, in addition to soldiers and ammunition, with the heaviest artillery pieces in the battle against Ukraine. Nearly fifty heavy self-propelled howitzers of North Korean production and nearly twenty multiple rocket launchers are said to have arrived in Russia in recent weeks.
Thousands of North Koreans have been deployed to Russia
North Korea had previously sent more than 10,000 soldiers to Russia, according to South Korean intelligence. According to information from the US State Department, thousands of them have already been deployed against Ukrainian forces in the Russian border area near Kursk. Recently, North Korea and Russia ratified a comprehensive agreement that includes a mutual defense pact.
