The head of the Muslim Ismailites, the Aga Khan, died, according to the religious community at the age of 88. He was considered one of the most rich men in the world.
Karim Al Husseini, his bourgeois name, died on Tuesday with his family in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. Everyone who will follow his successor as a spiritual leader must be announced at a later time. The decision depends on the will of the deceased.
- The Ismailites, a liberal stream of Shiite Islam, are widespread as a religious community worldwide. Her followers live mainly in Asia, Africa and the Central East, but also in Europe, North America and Australia.
