The US government under President Donald Trump has strong converts in the education sector. This time it will affect the universities: a study has started at around 50 institutions due to the diversity policy, as the US Department of Education reports.
The universities did not respond to an earlier letter to stop or break their diversity policy. For example, some would have given stock markets because of the skin color. Minister of Education Linda McMahon explains that students should be assessed after performance and success, not according to their skin color. “We will not leave this obligation.”
President Donald Trump’s government is concerned with the so-called dei programs. These represent “diversity, fairness and inclusion”, in German: diversity, justice and inclusion. This means that companies or organizations ensure that people of different origins, different sexes or disabilities get the same opportunities in the workplace. The programs were introduced to prevent historical disadvantages of blacks or women.
“The ministry is working on reorganizing the enforcement of civil rights to ensure that all students are protected against illegal discrimination,” explains McMahon.
