US government ashamed – breakdown of wild security: is incompetence punishable?

Date:

Can incompetence be criminal? This is exactly what the opposition in the United States now wants to investigate after Trump’s government has played through war scenarios in a civil service and in the presence of a journalist. The incident is currently being stunned.

It is one of the largest security drop in American history. High government agents added a journalist to a civil chat group to discuss an attack on the Houthis in Yemen. The reporter documented chat history and revealed a worrying understanding of current American leadership.

The minority leader of the Democrats in the Senate, Chuck Schumer, spoke about “amateur behavior” on platform X and called for extensive processing.

American media quoted him with the words that it was “one of the most incredible injuries” military secrets ever met. A spokesperson for the National Security Council, Brian Hughes, confirmed that chat history was authentic.

Procedure embarrasses our policy
There are usually strict rules about how the US government has to deal with confidential and strictly secret information that influences national security. This applies all the more to concrete plans for military operations abroad, because there is a lot of life at stake. Normally internal channels are used for communication or the susely driven “situations space” in the White House. The signal app used in this case is not intended for this.

Journalist Jeffrey Goldberg, who was added to the group for unknown reasons, describes the exchange between the participants in chat in detail in his article – with exact times and original quotes. His presence apparently unnoticed for a few days. When the people involved celebrated the first explosions in Yemen with Biceps -Emojis and Vlam symbols, Goldberg was sitting in a supermarket park in his car and rubbed his eyes.

Very embarrassing: ex-Fox Moderator and American Defense Minister Pete Hegseeth previously announced his colleagues on the full mouth that “Opsec” was secured in the chat. So “operational safety” to discuss things of special explosiveness. The Republicans now emphasize that the tone was professional. For the soldiers who risk their lives, this is probably a weak comfort.

When is incompetence punishable?
The bizarre process can still have courts. Van Hegseeth is said to have given detailed information about goals, weapon systems and the time that ends two hours before the start of the attacks on March 15 on March 15. The group therefore discussed both military tactics and political communication around the planned blow.

According to federal law, it is a crime if a person reveals information that has gross negligence information that influences the national defense. The partners of the participants suggest that they moved in public when they wrote about very sensitive things. What if someone had lost his cell phone?

“There is no living officer whose career would survive such a security violation. This would usually lead to immediate consequences (for example dismissal from the service), followed by an extensive investigation and possibly a criminal charge,” wrote “New York Times” columnist David French, who served as a lawyer in the US Army.

JD Vance moves over European partners
The chat course also shows how much the Trump government has now moved from Europe. US VICE JD Vance doubted the need for the military campaign. His reason: if the Suez Canal of the Houthis is freed, this would in particular help European merchant ships. He was not sure if Trump would have understood how much this is in the “contradiction with his current message” above Europe.

“I just hate to help Europe out of trouble again,” said Vance. Hegseeth agreed: “VP, I share your disgust in every respect. It is pathetic.” Vance rowed back in a first reaction. He would never have questioned the competence of his boss’s foreign policy. In turn, he has not made his aversion to Europe harmless.

There are also discussions about the time of the attack. Vance argued for pushing the operation and instructions of Trump to “clean” the trade route on the Red Sea for a month. It would take more time to explain the step to the public to discredit the previous government for the Houthi blockade on the Red Sea. Eventually they decided on the bombing, in which more than 50 people died.

“If the leak looks hesitant,” ironically, Hegseeth said the step. Then American bombs flew to Yemen.
