From 1 May a national ban on mobile phones is planned to the eighth school level. However, many exceptions are possible, as the recipe now shows. For example, teachers must be able to let mobile phones learn.
This influences, for example, the subject of basic dital education, workshops on security on the network or the assessment of facts in the classroom. According to the Regulation, there are also exceptions to students who need the mobile phone of medical gusts of wind (eg blood sugar measurement -app for diabetics). In addition, the mobile phones can be used on different days of school events for digital bus and city plans and for communication with parents.
During the breaks, life must come back to the classes, said Education Minister Christoph Return (Neos). The ban on mobile phones would promote social skills and the ability to concentrate for children and adolescents. In principle, autonomous regulations of school can continue, said Verkehr.
Use in breaks
An example of this is the use during the lunch break. It would also be possible to arrange that mobile phones, smartwaches and similar devices are locked from written performance assessments.
The students themselves are responsible for the safety of their digital end devices. The cabinet is considered safe custody in the regulation. In the case of violations of the rules for mobile phones, the teaching staff can reduce the devices at the end of school. With repeated violations or problematic content such as bullying or pornography, it is permitted to only transfer the mobile phone to the legal guardians.
Most schools have already regulated the use of mobile phones.
