France President Emmanuel Macron has announced a French-British mission in Ukraine. The goal is “that the French-British units can be sent to Ukraine in the coming days to work closely with the Ukrainian partners,” Macron emphasized on Thursday.
In the French capital Paris, a meeting of the ‘coalition of the willing’ representatives of around 30 countries is currently advising on the further support of Ukraine. The topics must be possible, especially possible security guarantees if there is a cease -fire.
US at Meet not included
It is the third meeting in this format that goes back to an initiative of Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Strander. Both strive for weeks for a joint answer from the European and NATO countries to the approach of the United States, which continues to approach Russia under President Donald Trump. The United States, who recently negotiated in Saudi Arabia with Russia and Ukraine in separate conversations, are not invited. Macron called Trump before the meeting started, said the Palace of Elysée. In the beginning nothing was said about the content.
France and Great Britain have repeatedly emphasized their willingness to send soldiers to Ukraine. At the start of the top, France also insured military aids of two billion euros at the start of the top.
France is from China
With a view to efforts for an end to the war in Ukraine, the French Foreign Minister meant Jean-Noël Barrot China. Beijing had to play a role in convincing Moscow to get the negotiating table with “serious” suggestions, he said during a visit to the People’s Republic. China claims to take a neutral position in the Ukraine war. However, Beijing is criticized by the West because of his refusal to condemn his allies Russia for his invasion in Ukraine.
Europeans reject the abolition of Russian sanctions
In the meantime, European Ukraine supporters have also pronounced for maintaining and taking up sanctions against Russia. The sanctions would be ‘a serious mistake’, said the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Macron and Strandmer also rejected a lifting of the sanctions.
